I use the DB shotty now for just about everything. It puts down any hunter in one shot (I have it at Lvl 3) and the range I get with it is extreme. I demonstrated it to a few guys on the server and they couldn't believe the range I was getting.

Double barrel, every time. It has the highest close range damage output in a shot of any gun of the game. With slugs it’s also basically a 200m sniper rifle. Its not impossible you're insanely good at the game, but I'm pretty skeptical.

In either case, the differences are relatively small, depends if you prefer the efficiency and usefulness of having more shells loaded at any given time.
