NASA says that, yes, an asteroid buzzing by in 2023 could hit Earth

An asteroid that measures up to 300 feet across could smack into Earth in 2032, and while NASA says the chances of a collision are “extremely low,” the probability has been increasing since the space rock was discovered weeks ago.

NASA Issues Update on Chance of Giant Asteroid Hitting Earth

In an update issued on February 7, NASA said the probability of 2024 YR4 hitting the Earth had gone from around 1.2 percent (one-in-83) to 2.3 percent (one-in-23).
