The Society Of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) whose members include many of the top songwriters and film composers in the industry has asked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to reconsider their decision,

Describing the decision to remove the performances of nominated songs as "just another example of the devaluation of music, and its creators," SCL president Ashley Irwin asks "for even abbreviated renditions of the nominated songs during the show.
