CULBERSON COUNTY, Texas — A large earthquake shook West Texas Saturday night, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake was located about 35 miles south of Whites City, NM., in Culberson County. USGS reported that it was a 5.3 magnitude earthquake and almost four miles in depth.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that the earthquake's epicenter was about 35 miles south of Whites City, New Mexico.

The earthquake happened around 8:47 p.m. CT, nearly 35 miles west of Whites City, New Mexico, about 200 miles from Lubbock.
