When Aishwarya was to deliver her first-born Aaradhya Bachchan, she is said to have been in severe labour pain that went on for 2-3 hours.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan had spoken to the media and distributed sweets when Aaradhya was born. At that point in time, Big B had praised his daughter-in-law for bearing pain for 2-3 hours and insisting on having a normal delivery despite the fact that C-section is so common now!

In an older interview, Amitabh Bachchan praised Aishwarya Rai's strength for dealing with labour pain without opting for painkillers. He also mentioned how Aishwarya opted for a natural birth to welcome Aaradhya.

Amitabh Bachchan recalled that after the premiere of their film 'Guru' in New York, Abhishek called to tell him the big news—that he had just asked Aishwarya to marry him.
