WASHINGTON (AP) — The Army was one of 28 government agencies authorized to fly helicopters near Ronald Reagan National Airport before its Black Hawk helicopter collided with an American Airlines passenger jet last week, killing 67.

The FAA plans to reduce flight arrivals at Washington Reagan National Airport after a deadly collision between a military helicopter and a passenger jet.

The Federal Aviation Administration is indefinitely reducing flights into Reagan National Airport from 28 to 26 arrivals an hour to address safety concerns after the deadly crash there last week, according to two individuals with knowledge of the decision who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The NTSB and FAA are briefing members of the Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday on the ongoing crash investigation.
