Google says it will take its cue from the U.S. government if it has to change the names of the Gulf of Mexico and Denali on its Maps service.

Chevron previously used "Gulf of Mexico" to refer to that body of water, which stretches from Texas to Florida on the southeastern border of the U.S. Trump signed an executive order on Jan. 20 to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

During his inauguration speech Monday, President Donald Trump repeated his promise to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. "A short time from now we are going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America," Trump said, during a description of his plans for his first actions as the 47th president.
