A political newcomer who hopes to become mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, advanced in Tuesday's primary after his half-brother, Vice President J.D. Vance, put in a good word for him. Vance put out a post on Tuesday via social media platform X,

Cory Bowman, who shares a father with Vance, says he was inspired to enter the race after his half-brother's inauguration. A Republican last ran for Cincinnati mayor, unsuccessfully, in 2009.

The mayoral contest in Democrat-run Cincinnati has come down to two candidates for November following Tuesday’s primary voting. On November 4, incumbent Aftab Pureval will oppose Cory Bowman, who is the half-brother of Vice President JD Vance.
