The director of cadet programs for the Rhode Island Civil Air Patrol has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

Robert A. Gianopoulos, 69, is the director of cadet programs, where members range from 12 to 18 years old. The state police said there was no evidence of inappropriate involvement with the cadets.

The Rhode Island Civil Air Patrol cadet director has been arrested for possession of child pornography. Rhode Island State Police say 69-year-old Robert Gianopoulos was taken into custody on Thursday after an investigation led troopers to his Parkview Drive apartment in Pawtucket.
