The Mets brought back Jesse Winker to add to a crowded outfield that also has newcomers Juan Soto and Jose Siri, in addition to Taylor and veterans Starling Marte and Brandon Nimmo. In the Twin Cities, he’ll provide depth behind injury-prone Byron Buxton and provide an extra right-handed bat available to the lineup.

Whatever role Bader has, he said, is good with him. The Twins this month signed the outfielder to a one-year, $6.25 million guaranteed contract with a mutual option for next season earlier. He presence alongside Buxton should make the Twins’ outfield defense among the game’s best.

He doesn’t exactly need to ask directions to find the place. But Harrison Bader hasn’t done more than jog through left field since before Rocco Baldelli became Twins manager. Baldelli wants Bader to reacquaint himself with it.

Harrison Bader has covered all three outfield positions in his career, but the vast majority of his playing time has come in center field. That shouldn’t come as any surprise.
