The University of Akron men's basketball team beat Kent State in a Wagon Wheel rivalry game Friday on ESPN2. UA clinched the MAC regular-season title.

There's nothing quite like a late-season Wagon Wheel grudge match to help the Akron and Kent State men's basketball programs gear up for the Mid-American Conference Tournament next month in Cleveland.

In the first Wagon Wheel game between the teams this season, Akron won 85-71 on Jan. 31 at the M.A.C. Center. As both men’s teams trend upward, the same cannot be said of the women’s teams.
