A child was rescued from a structure fire by firefighters with the Florence Fire Department. On Jan. 30, firefighters responded to a structure fire at a two-story home, with reports of a child being trapped inside.

FLORENCE, Ky. (WXIX) - Police announced Thursday they arrested the gunman they believe shot at two people in a car at a Florence intersection last week and charged him with attempted murder. No one was hurt when it was reported at Weaver Road and Mission Lane on Feb. 28, but Florence police said they found three bullet holes in the vehicle.

The Sarah, a $4 million development with luxury townhomes and commercial space, is underway in Florence. The city previously approved a $550,000 grant for it.

According to police, Johnson allegedly forced himself into the victim’s room at the Colonial Inn and began to fight them. Johnson is also accused of taking the victim’s wallet, watch and jacket. He then took the victim’s car in the parking lot, where the victim allegedly fired one shot at Johnson during the fight.

A Florence man who was found severely beaten in the middle of the roadway a month ago has succumbed to his injuries, police report.
