United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 7 (UFCW7)-- the union representing local King Soopers employees-- says
McMullen’s departure comes months after Kroger’s failed two-year effort to merge with another supermarket giant, Albertsons.
According to statements from both the union and King Soopers, the agreement includes a 100-day period of “labor peace,” giving both sides time to resume contract negotiations. The truce also ensures that workers will not lose their health care coverage between now and a final contract deal.
The King Soopers strike is officially over as of today, February 18. Workers began striking on February 6 over allegations of unfair labor practices by King Soopers during negotiations for a new union contract.
