Israel will not withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor -- the border separating Egypt and Gaza -- as stipulated by the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.

Israel announced on Thursday it was sending negotiators to Cairo for talks, seeking to extend a first phase of a ceasefire due to expire in two days, in the apparent aim of securing the release of more hostages while delaying any final deal on Gaza's future.

"Not every nation will feel able to contribute," British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said during a press conference on Sunday.

The military was supposed to begin withdrawing from that region in early March if the current ceasefire, which expires Saturday, were extended.

The first phase of the ceasefire that paused 15 months of brutal warfare between Israel and Hamas is set to end on Saturday.

Mourners in Israel on Friday were burying the remains of one of the last hostages released in the first phase of the ceasefire between Hamas militants and Israel, as negotiators discussed a second phase of the deal that could end the war in Gaza and see the remaining live hostages returning home.

Trump has hinted at ending U.S. support as Zelenskyy has said that a peace deal with Russia “is still very, very far away.”
