This is an inevitability as MLS further assimilates into the global transfer market in all of its arenas. A club in a league like MLS can never fully be a “buyer” or a “seller,” instead having to remain nimble to upgrade in key areas while staying one step ahead with their roster evolution.

Winger Jonathan Bamba was acquired by Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire from Spanish club Celta Viga and agreed to a three-year contract that includes a team option for 2028.

Signing Chicago Fire FC have acquired Ivory Coast international winger Jonathan Bamba from LaLiga side Celta de Vigo, the club announced Tuesday.

Celta youngster Luca de la Torre has also moved to MLS on-loan to San Diego FC. And last week, Argentine striker Tadeo Allende joined on loan Inter Miami. All three transfers had the approval of Celta coach Claudio Giráldez.

The Chicago Fire are in Chicago for the week as they prepare for the second leg of their preseason camp at the Coachella Valley Invitational in California. They’ve already played two friendlies during their time in Florida in January and have now begun preparations for their upcoming trip to California as they look to build chemistry ahead of the 2025 MLS season.

The madness that is the MLS transfer window continued on Friday with multiple clubs announcing some major moves. Arguably the biggest transfer of the day involved Austin FC, who continued their roster refresh by signing forward Myrto Uzuni for a club-record $12.
