Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were drawn to meet in a potential blockbuster quarterfinal at the upcoming Indian Wells Masters 1000 tournament. The showdown would be a rematch of the Australian Open quarterfinal won by Djokovic before he retired during his semifinal with Alexander Zverev.

Carlos Alcaraz says he will try "not to think" about the possibility of joining Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the Indian Wells Masters history books but admits he would absolutely love to join the two tennis giants in emulating a notable record.

Carlos Alcaraz could run into Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals in his quest for a rare Indian Wells three-peat, while defending women's champion Iga Swiatek also faces a tough test. Djokovic beat Alcaraz to reach the Australian Open semifinals in January and is hoping he can become only the third man to claim 100 career singles titles when the main draw of the tournament kicks off Wednesday in the California desert.

Carlos Alcaraz will seek his third consecutive Indian Wells title next week. The Spaniard will have to pass a couple of challenging obstacles if he wants to reach the fourth consecutive semi-final in the desert,

Cameron Norrie, the last Brit in the main draw, plays Luca Nardi in round one as he looks to bounce back from an underwhelming start to his season. Should he beat the Italian he’ll come up against Czech rising star Jiri Lehecka, the 23rd seed, in the next round.

The first-round spotlight will be on wild card Joao Fonseca, the 18-year-old Brazilian who upset Andre Rublev at the Australian Open and lifted his first ATP title in Buenos Aires in February. Fonseca will open his campaign against Britain's Jacob Fearnley, who has climbed from outside the top 500 in he world rankings this time last year to 81st.
