The Flames knew 2025 should’ve been a season of reclaiming a regionals victory instead of continuing to seek their first one. After a 10-5 victory over Marist on May 16, Liberty matched up against Texas A&M for the first time in the tournament the following day.
Some call it the biggest upset in softball history, and maybe it was. It certainly turned the softball world on its head. A&M’s loss shows that mid-majors can rise up in college softball.
It wasn't perfection, but it was the perfect ending for Kaylor West and Liberty Creek in the TSSAA softball state championships.
Liberty shocked the NCAA softball tournament by defeating No. 1 seed Texas A&M, but it's not satisfied heading to Oregon in the super regionals.
