The bill makes it illegal to “knowingly publish” or threaten to publish intimate images without a person's consent, including AI-created "deepfakes."

The Take It Down Act requires social media platforms to remove such images within 48 hours after getting notice. The bill makes it a crime to knowingly publish such non-consensual intimate visual depictions. The legislation overwhelming passed the House on Monday in a 409-2 vote. It passed unanimously in the Senate in February.
