The Tigers kicked the weekend off on the right foot thanks to a vigorous rally late on Thursday night. The Angels carried a slim lead heading into the eighth inning, but Detroit exploded for eight runs, finishing the Angels off with three more in the ninth on their way to a 10-4 win. The Bengals are now 2-2 on their 10-game road trip.

By doing so, Greene became the first player in MLB history to hit two home runs in the ninth inning of the same game. Greene also became the first Tigers player to hit two home runs in the same inning since 2007 when Magglio Ordonez did so in the second inning in a game against the Oakland Athletics.

Postgame, Angels manager Ron Washington confirmed that Trout is being placed on the 10-day injured list due to a bone bruise in his left knee—the same knee that required two surgeries for meniscus tears last year.

Last year, Trout tore the meniscus in his left knee on April 29, and Trout thought he’d return in six-to-eight weeks. He aggravated the injury in his first minor league rehabilitation game in July and sat out the rest of the season.
