Four military police units from Texas are among as many as 1,500 active-duty troops bound for the nation’s southern border to “bolster security,” military leaders said Friday.

The Texas governor said the additional troops will work alongside federal border agents as part of Trump's efforts to seize the offensive.

Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday said he's sending more than 400 soldiers from Houston and Fort Worth to the U.S.-Mexico border to collaborate with Border Patrol agents, according to new reporting from the Texas Tribune.
