ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that Budenholzer and Booker clashed over the way the star guard communicated with the team, causing Booker to assert his supremacy over the coach within the franchise.

The Phoenix Suns will have their eighth head coach during Devin Booker's 11-year NBA career next season after firing Mike Budenholzer.

The Suns signed Booker to a four-year, $220 million extension in 2022. A four-time All-Star, Booker is eligible to sign a two-year $149.8 million extension this summer, and according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Phoenix is expected to offer that deal to Booker.
