TRACKING THE TROPICS: Updates on Kirk, Leslie, and Milton
Late Friday night, Tropical Storm Leslie strengthened into Hurricane Leslie, the 8th hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. Leslie is in the far Eastern Atlantic, moving west-northwest at 7 mph, following on the heels of Hurricane Kirk.
TROPICS: When we will start to see more tropical moisture?
Finally, another area of concern is in the Gulf of Mexico where an area of low pressure is expected to form but only has a 30% chance of continuing to develop. Regardless of development, tropical moisture will surge into Florida. Interests along the U.S. Gulf Coast should continue to monitor the progress of this system.

The first is Hurricane Kirk, which strengthened into a major storm and currently has winds at 125 mph and is moving to the northwest at 10 mph. Over the last 24 hours, Kirks winds have increased 40 mph meaning it has rapidly intensified.
