The Trump administration’s revocation of all visas held by South Sudanese nationals comes as the East African nation faces the threat of renewed war.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that Trump will head to Saudi Arabia for the first foreign trip in his second administration. Leavitt said more details would be announced later.

He elaborated on the decision to revoke visas, which was made because South Sudan refused “to accept one of their nationals certified by their own Embassy in Washington and repatriated to their country,” and after the U.S.’s efforts to “engage diplomatically with the South Sudanese Government” were rejected.
