President Joe Biden on Friday asked Congress to speed authorization of about $1.6 billion for the Small Business Administration so it can properly respond to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene and other disasters.

This a misrepresentation of both Biden's statement and the reporter's question. Biden said the next day that more aid would be forthcoming.

The president said a Small Business Administration program needed to help business owners recover from Hurricane Helene was set to run out of money in weeks, before Congress reconvenes.
