Cincinnati Reds great Pete Rose died at his Las Vegas home Monday because of a serious heart condition, a Nevada coroner said Tuesday.

Rose’s death this past week at the age of 83 renewed the endless debate of whether he should be in the Hall of Fame.

Pete Rose still isn’t going into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The career hits leader’s banishment from baseball 35 years ago was often referred to as a lifetime ban, and his death this week led some to believe that would end.

After reaching the pinnacle of the sport he loved, Rose was banned from baseball in 1989 for gambling while manager of his hometown Reds.   That came just four years after Rose had broken Ty Cobb’s hit record,
