Five-time Olympic gold medalist Sue Bird was named the first-ever managing director of the USA Basketball Women's National Team on Thursday.

Sue Bird officially announced on the TODAY show she is the first managing director of Team USA's women's national basketball team.

Sue Bird is going for Olympic gold medal No. 6, but her first in an administrative role. Bird is expected to be named managing director for the U.S. women’s national basketball team for the upcoming Olympic cycle, The Athletic reported Tuesday.
