Meta’s upcoming Community Notes feature for monitoring misinformation will use some technology developed by Musk’s X for its similar service.

Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg said that, effectively, Meta was getting out of the ‘caring about the truth’ business and ditching third-party fact-checkers. Now it’s handing over the keys to its users. Meta announced that it will start to roll out a Community Notes feature, similar to the one on X, across its major social platforms.

To sign up to be a Community Notes contributor, you need to be 18 or older, have an account that is over six months old and in good standing, meaning your account hasn’t been reported or suspended for any misconduct. You also need to reside in the U.S. in order to participate in the test.
