Drivers have been warned to expect long delays after a six-vehicle crash closed a section of a motorway in Warwickshire. National Highways said the M6 southbound, near Henley, remained closed between Junction 3 for Bedworth and Junction 2 near Coventry following a "serious multiple vehicle collision".

A Great North Air Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We can confirm that today at 1.26pm, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust requested us to assist North West Air Ambulance Charity with a serious incident on the M6 near Carnforth.

National Highways said the carriageway between junction 16, Crewe, and junction 15, Stoke-on-Trent, closed after a "serious collision". The agency added the carriageway was expected to remain closed throughout the day on Friday.
