Thomas Detry nearly aced the par-3 16th hole and shot a 7-under 64 in the second round to take a two-shot lead lead in the WM Phoenix Open on Friday. Detry had eight birdies and a bogey to reach 12 under on another day of perfect conditions at TPC Sawgrass.

The Dallas golfer got out to a solid start in this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, impressing viewers with an improbable birdie on the sixth hole at TPC Scottsdale. Spieth originally found himself in a tough spot when his tee shot carried to the right and landed in the rough near an obstacle of tree branches.
