The Hoosiers extended their lead to as many as 7 points in the first half and ultimately carried a 41-37 lead into the break. Indiana outrebounded Purdue 19-12 and shot 55% from the floor. Purdue junior guard Braden Smith led all scorers with 14 points, followed closely by Goode.

Gicarri Harris' father, Glenn Robinson, was the national player of the year at Purdue, but Robinson lost three of the four games he played against Indiana.

Boilermakers forward Trey Kaufman-Renn hit the go-ahead basket with 11 seconds to go to give his team a 81-76 win. The teams traded baskets in the final 30 seconds with Trey Galloway giving IU the briefest of leads with a floater in the lane.
