Round 1 of the 2024 AHSAA high school football playoffs is in the books and the field of teams vying for a state championship in Alabama has been cut down significantly. 104 teams across the seven classifications are still standing from the 208 teams that entered this past Friday,

Round 2 of the AHSAA playoffs next week will feature some huge, championship-worthy matchups including Thompson at Auburn and Opelika at Hoover in Class 7A. The official matchups and times will be released Saturday by the AHSAA.

Macon East Academy's Miya Tatum signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at Tuskegee University. Tatum helped lead her team to back-to-back state championships in 2023 and 2024. She holds the school's home run record with 20, which she set her junior season in 2024. She batted .484 last season.

A pair of reigning state champs went down in the second round of the playoffs on Friday night. Class 6A Champ Clay-Chalkville lost at Muscle Shoals, while two-time reigning 1A champ Leroy lost to Georgiana.

The second round of the Alabama high school flag football playoffs is underway and scores from across the AHSAA are rolling in. The playoffs kicked off last week with the opening round. The second round will wrap up with a few games Wednesday and one Thursday.
