We had an excellent docent — she gave lots of history & had a wealth of knowledge. The museum is beautiful and well organized. It was a snowy cold day so we could not enjoy the grounds.Full review by Pioneer549557

We will be in the area on a fall foilage trip in October. We will be driving that morning from Lebanon, NH and would like to have lunch before we go to the Norman Rockwell Museum. We were wondering how much time we should allow for the museum. We will be driving to Boston after our museum visit, and would like to get in Boston before dark. Are we planning too much in this day? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Everyone chooses their own pace to go through museums... I like to glance over the paintings more than read about artworks. So I have found 1-2 hours time at Norman Rockwell Museum works for me. Hope you enjoy your visit there, enjoy a good lunch out in the Berkshires... and arrive safely and happily in Boston area before dark.

All the answers below offer good suggestions regarding the time needed at Norman Rockwell Museum. A suggested minimum for the galleries is an hour and a half. However, from May through October Norman Rockwell's actual studio is open, just a short walk from the main museum building. Our Terrace Café is also open during the warmer months, and our grounds are lovely to stroll. Through October, we have three exhibits in addition to the Norman Rockwell Collection: "Inventing America: Rockwell and Warhol", the work of illustrator James Warhola, and "The Famous Artists School." Some guests stay all day! Hope to see you soon.
