Aside from the package ticket, are there other hidden expenses we should plan for in order to get the full experience of the activities at the centre? e.g. does it cost extra to go on a canoe ride, or any of the other activities at each island? Context: We're on a tight budget, and considering the package which includes self-guided tour and evening show (no luau). Will probably take a packed lunch and maybe fork out for dinner at a food truck.

Canoes are free. You don't need to pay for anything, just if you want to buy souvenirs. You can have water. I traveled by bus #60 from Waikiki for $3. My package was $149.99 + tax. I bought it at the center. I had all performances started at noon, I had buffet dinner, and the night show. I returned by bus $60, as well. I had small snacks in my bag. This package is for 3 days. If you go there on Monday, you can use the same tickets to reenter on Tuesday and Wednesday.
How much does it cost to have a day there including luau

We went through the Polynesian Cultural Center directly and booked the Circle Island Tour, and the Super Ambassador Luau, which included the show Ha:Breath of Life. The total for two was $693.15. We were treated like royalty. All our seats were in the front row. We enjoyed every minute! Highly recommend.
