I will be visiting the Museum of Science and Industry with my husband and two children, both age 7 on a Tuesday in mid-June. We would like to take both the coal mine and the U-boat tour. Planning to arrive around 10am and looking to stay for about 5 hours. How far apart should we book the two tours and is there one we should do first?
A:
Hi we didn’t do the coal mine tour but the u-boat tour is approximately 40 minutes don’t forget to allow time to take part in the hurricane experiment

Q:
How safe is the open parking lots next to the museum? I saw quite a few people said their cars got broken into recently.
A:
Sorry we walked there from our hotel but with the amount of people around this surprises me
Q:
Is the mueseum cashless?

Yes, every eating, admissions and exhibition upgrade location I walked by had one of those "insert card here" boxes that accept credit cards. So you won't have to use cash anywhere in …

Yes, every eating, admissions and exhibition upgrade location I walked by had one of those "insert card here" boxes that accept credit cards. So you won't have to use cash anywhere in the museum. I don't know which ones do accept cash, such as the main admissions desk. You can check the Museum's web site for payment details.
Q:
Are there metal detectors at entrance
A:
No there are not. Interesting question to ask though....

Q:
I am coming to Chicago the lady week of June and plan on visiting this museum on a weekday. How far in advance do I need to purchase tickets? I would like to do the submarine and coal mine add-on attractions.
A:
I booked the submarine tour a day in advance. It was full when we got there so worth reserving in advance
